Child and Adolescent Counseling
Most parents are aware that it can be difficult to raise a child. As a parent, how can you tell if your child may benefit from therapy? Asking yourself some of the following questions may help you to make this decision.
? Has your child?s life been interrupted by an experience (death, divorce, illness, change in residence) that seems to be causing distress? Has this distress lasted longer than normally would be expected?
? Has your child been having difficulty at school either socially or academically? Have previous attempts to help seemed ineffective?
? Has your child experienced any of the following: uncharacteristic school failure, fear of sleeping alone or heightened anxiety when separating from a parent?
? Has your child become uncharacteristically aggressive or violent?
? Have these concerns interfered with your child?s daily life or your own?
All children react differently to stressors in their lives. If you are concerned about your child?s behavior and well being we encourage you to call The Success Center to discuss whether or not therapy would be appropriate for your family and child.
