All Stars
School Based Prevention Program

The All Stars program is a drug prevention program based on over 25 years of research. The program has been recognized by the US Department of Education and Centers for Substance Abuse Prevention as a model research-based program.

The goal of the All Stars program is to prevent alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use, as well as fighting and delinquency. The program also enhances positive characteristics, such as: idealism and a belief in the future, commitment to a positive lifestyle, and a sense of belonging and positive relationships with parents and other adults.

All Stars uses four strategies to deter the onset of risky behaviors:

? Reinforce beliefs in social norms. All Stars promotes the belief that risky behaviors are not prevalent or acceptable among the peer group.

? Build strong commitments. All Stars uses voluntary personal commitments to reinforce a child?s resistance skills.

? Build idealism and a sense of the future. All Stars builds the understanding that one?s future aspirations do not fit with a lifestyle of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use.

? All Stars is fun and engaging. All Stars activities are highly interactive. The program includes small group activities, games, art activities, and discussion.
